THEATRE

I'm active in community theatre as a performer, director, choreographer, producer, and publicity manager. View my theatre résumé here. And learn about some of my major theatre projects below!

Beauty and the Beast

Goddard Music and Drama club, Fall 2018

Director, Co-Choreographer

With a cast of 47 and nearly a hundred total people involved, this was MAD's largest and most complex musical production in recent years.

“That the production was one of such quality when working with so many different performers is a testament to… Jackson’s excellent directing” said the Greenbelt News Review.

“Beauty and the Beast is a lot of fun to watch and very visually appealing” said Theatre Bloom.

Follies

Goddard Music and Drama club, Fall 2017

Choreographer, Publicity, Dancer

Highlights include choreographing a large tap number with 14 women of varying skill levels for "Who's That Woman?" and a jazz/lindy hop number for "The Story of Lucy and Jessie."

"Choreographer Katrina Jackson did an excellent job with unique dances that fit the character of each number and I heard many audience members commenting on how much they enjoyed the choreography" said MD Theatre Guide

Oklahoma!

Goddard Music and Drama club, Fall 2016

Choreographer, Dream Laurey, Cowboy

It was a fun challenge adapting Agnes de Mille's original choreography, including her famous Dream Ballet, for an amateur production where a lot of people had minimal dance experience.

Urinetown

Goddard Music and Drama club, Fall 2015

Director, Choreographer, Publicity

My first foray into directing featured a cast ranging in ages from 13 to 90 in this high-energy Brechtian musical satire that connected with NASA Earth science themes.

Other Theatre Performances

From the emotional heartbreak of The Wild Party, to the ridiculous sad juggling of Wyrd Sisters, to the colorful escapism of On the Town, I've performed in a variety of community theatre productions.

Theatre Publicity Videos

I've coordinated publicity efforts for several theatre productions, including producing promotional videos.

"Pretenders" Dance Video Project

"I'm a good pretender, so I'm just like you."

In the summer of 2019, I organized a weekend collaborative dance workshop where Goddard Music and Drama club members choreographed sections of the song "Pretenders" by Steve Aoki, AJR, and Lil Yachty, culminating in a video shoot. The idea was to portray each of us feeling like a "pretender" then realizing we can find community in the fact that everyone faces their own insecurities. I followed up the dance video with conversations about ways each of us experience imposter syndrome in our careers, community theatre, and our personal lives. As I mentioned in Part 2, I had to push through a lot of my own imposter syndrome to make this, because... I had no clue what I was doing. But luckily a lot of other people don't either.
